Yaak (pronounced yak) is an unincorporated community in the Kootenai National Forest, along the Yaak River, at 48°49’59″N 115°42’32″/48.833056, -115.708889. It lies west of Eureka in the Northwestern Montana, only a few miles from the Canadian border. The Yaak covers 72.84 km² (28.1 mi²) with a total population of 248 people in the 2010 census. That means you are nearly twice as likely to see a Grizzly Bear than a person if you venture more than a half of a mile from town.
